History: The Clarksburg-Harrison County Library was established in 1907 as a reading room with a few hundred books, before moving to the Waldomore House in 1930. Waldomore continued to house the library for more than four decades. A new building was constructed adjacent to the Waldomore site and the library moved most of its operations into the new building in 1975. The structure was designed by Marcel Breuer, with partner Hamilton Smith, and contains many of the original furniture pieces designed by the architects. The library serves nearly 57,000 residents in Clarksburg and Harrison County.
